Grand Knight's Report
Grand Knight Message from the may 25th, 2010 Meeting
Just a couple of quick points, as we have a busy agenda tonight.
In a half hour or so, we will be having elections. Please pray that the officers chosen will serve this council to the best of their ability, and that they will be guided by our Lord to do the good works for which they are elected to do.
Just as important to the executive positions are the directors. Over the next couple weeks, the new DGK and I will be putting a team together to direct the Church, Family, Youth, Council, Pro-Life, and Community groups. Once chosen, the DGK and I will sit down with these directors to put a plan together for the coming year. If you are interested please chat with one of us, or if you are asked, please say yes and take the opportunity to lead a group of men in fulfilling some of the council's goals.
Tomorrow night we are having a 1st degree at Columbus Court. If you haven't been to one since your own, I would encourage you to attend this one. When you go through your own, it can be a bit of a blur, but by attending another as an observer, you get a whole new prospective of the event. 7pm Columbus court.
Thank you for attending this evening. Thank you for your time. Until next month, live, laugh and be happy, all while doing God’s work.

District Deputies Report:
I bring you greetings from Supreme and from our State Deputy, Michael Yeo. We are nearing the end of the fraternal year and our opportunity to achieve our goals before the summer activities begin. Every catholic man deserves the chance to belong to the Knights of Columbus and experience the unity and fraternity that the order provides. Be proud to ask your catholic friends: “Would you like to be a part of the greatest Catholic men’s organization in the world?”
This is my last term as District Deputy and I would like to thank all my brother Knights for the support they have shown me over the last 3 years.
Brother Gerry Goudge needs your help. As of lately he is having trouble getting Knights to take their turn in helping with Bingo. This is not a huge committment and is a lot of fun. If he calls you please accept the opportunity. If you can't make it on the night he is asking about, suggest another night. If he hasn't asked you yet, call him. His number is 545-8986. Thank you for helping out. The money we collect, goes towards the scholarships we give out every year at this time.
APOSTOLIC LETTER: TERTIO MILLENNIO ADVENIENTE
3. John, in the Prologue of his Gospel, captures in one phrase all the depth of the mystery of the Incarnation. He writes: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father" (1:14). For John, the Incarnation of the Eternal Word, of one being with the Father, took place in the conception and birth of Jesus. The Evangelist speaks of the Word who in the beginning was with God, and through whom everything which exists was made; the Word in whom was life, the life which was the light of men (cf. 1:1-4). Of the Only-Begotten Son, God from God, the Apostle Paul writes that he is "the first-born of all creation" (Col 1:15). God created the world through the Word. The Word is Eternal Wisdom; the Thought and Substantial Image of God; "He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature" (Heb 1:3). Eternally begotten and eternally loved by the Father, as God from God and Light from Light, he is the principle and archetype of everything created by God in time.
The fact that in the fullness of time the Eternal Word took on the condition of a creature gives a unique cosmic value to the event which took place in Bethlehem two thousand years ago. Thanks to the Word, the world of creatures appears as a "cosmos", an ordered universe. And it is the same Word who, by taking flesh, renews the cosmic order of creation. The Letter to the Ephesians speaks of the purpose which God had set forth in Christ, "as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth" (1:9-10).
“Christmas is God with us. Good Friday is God for us. Pentecost is God in is.”
“The Word” – Jesus, God the Only-begotten, takes on our human condition and offers us the opportunity to become sons and daughters of God, that is, to share in God’s own life in a real and supernatural way.
‘the first-born of all creation’ – in Jewish culture, the first-born was first in honour and in law. Jesus has pre-eminence and headship over all created things, because not only does he pre-date them but they were all created ‘through Him’ and ‘for Him’.
St. John Chrysostom – ‘since heavenly things and earthly things were torn apart from each other, they had no head... [God] made Christ according to the flesh the sole head of all things, of angels and of men; that is, he provided one single principle for angels and for men; ... for all things will be perfectly united as they ought to be when they are gathered together under one head, linked by a bond which must come from on high.”
Elections were held on May 25th
At our May General Meeting we held the election of Officers for the Fraternal Year ending June 30th, 2011. Elections went well and all positions were filled. The installation of officers will take place after mass this Sunday the 6th of June. I will list the new executive in our June newsletter.
Ladies Appreciation Evening a huge success.
What a night. A total of 70 people attended our second annual Ladies Appreciation evening. The evening began with a social time, followed by a fabulous Salmon dinner and absolutely delightful dessert. While the meal was settling, the gentlemen got up and sang a song (written by our very own Brother Joe Bukowsky) dedicated to the ladies. Brother Will Stanton then narrated a skit performed by 7 extremely gifted Knights.
A big thank you goes out to those that helped make this evening special. Brother Maurice Bouchard for organizing the refreshments, Brother Myles Bokowsky for "quarterbacking" the youth in serving the food; Brother Gerry Glasser and his wife Marlene for manning the front door; Brother Joel and Rita Allen for donating the Roses and center pieces; Brother Ben and Taryn Allen for putting the center pieces and Roses together; Brother Joe Bukoswky for the song he wrote; all the Knights who helped on setup and take down; all the gifted performers, anyone else I may have missed and thank you to all that attended this wonderful event.
On Sunday May 16th, Brother Bert Niehaus led us through the living Rosary. Approximately 50 people partook in this event. Thank You Brother Bert for organizing this event. A Red Rose was placed in a vase for every Our Father and other colored Roses for the Hail Mary's.
A major degree was held in Kamloops on May 15th and Gerry Glasser and very new Knight Roger Leflour had the honours bestowed upon them. Congratulations Brothers.
